Please purchase stamp papers only from licensed stamp vendors and verify them for the security features mentioned above.
The use of stamp paper is not compulsory but is optional. Provision is also made to execute instruments / documents on plain paper and pay the duty as required. Insist on the signature / licence number / name and address of the vendor on the stamp paper you purchase and check for the seal of the treasury.
Franking machines have been setup in all Sub-Registry offices in the State and in a few financial organisations in Bangalore city, where stamps of lower denominations could be got franked on formats of documents. Do not succumb to the attractive rebates / discounts / paybacks offered by any person for purchase of stamps and stamp papers as there is no provision to offer commission by authorised vendors.
Regular inspection of the records of the stamp vendors and reconciliation of the accounts has been ordered by the Department to detect the fake paper circulation. Minimize the use of stamp papers and instead pay the duty through DD / Challan or Pay order.
